Towanda falls to Muncy 3-2

Towanda narrowly fell to Muncy, 3-2, in local tennis action on Thursday.

In singles, Muncy’s Justin Kramer defeated Matt McNeal 1-6, 7-5, 6-1, Jeremy Lloyd topped Towanda’s Anthony Vogel 6-5, 4-6, 6-3 and Towanda’s Ryan Risch defeated Levi Messanger 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, Towanda’s Demetrius Hill and Noah Poll defeated Chriss Ross and Chris Titian 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and Muncy’s Josh Hall and Mark Wertman defeated Towanda’s Jonathon Hoffman and Dalton Carey.

“This was an excellent match with three of the contests being decided in the final set. It was a tough loss for our young men.” Towanda coach Leo Harris said.

Towanda has a doubleheader against Waverly today, in Towanda at 3:00 p.m.

Notre Dame 4, Horseheads 3

The Crusaders earned a narrow win over the larger Horsheads.

Horseheads won the first two singles as Kolby Reasons beat Jack Kaffenbarger 6-2, 6-0 at first singles while Gavin DeWitt won over Derek Tsang 6-0, 6-0 at second singles

Notre Dame took the next two singles matches.

Aiden Sharma beat Ben Xu 6-4, 6-3 while Nick Steed won over Christian McGary 6-4, 6-2.

Notre Dame’s duo of Mitch Vargas and Declan Sharma beat Matt Minor and Jack Mosier 6-2, 6-3 at first doubles.

Horseheads tied it up at second doubles as Kevin Reasons and Cameron McGary won over Spencer Rayne and Aaron Yang 6-3, 7-5.

The Crusaders took third doubles for the win as Pat Finnergy and Victor Tsang rallied past Adam Shearer and Zackarie Stedge 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
