Sayre Juniors win District 15 Championship

SAYRE - The Sayre Juniors baseball squad defeated Towanda 12-2 in five innings to win the District 15 crown on Saturday.

For Sayre, Jake Bennett and Zach Moore each had two runs, three hits and one RBI; Jake Burgess added a run, two hits and two RBI; Oakley Gorman finished with a run and a hit; Dominic Fabbri had two runs and a hit; Kannon Van Duzer had one hit and two RBI; Kyler Setzer finished with three walks and one run; Isiah Firestine added two run and a RBI and Mason Houseknecht had one run.

For Towanda, Nate Parker had one hit and a run; Alex Perez scored a run; and Evan Johnson, Zayne McCarthy, Mason Johnson, and Octavious Chacona each had one hit.

Fabbri, Van Duzer and Houseknecht combined to pitch for Sayre and Chase Parker, Perez and Mason Johnson combined to pitch for Towanda.

Sayre will open sectionals on Wednesday.

Majors Baseball

Wellsboro 14, Millersburg/Halifax 2, 4 innings

Conner Adams had two grand slams to lead Wellsboro to the Section III win Saturday.

He finished with 8-RBI while also getting the win from the mound, striking out five.

Darryn Callahan had a home run, two runs scored and 2-RBI in the game, while Brody Morral had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Cameron Brought had a hit with two runs; Caden Smith had a double with a run scored; Matt Keister had a run scored with 2-RBI; Peyton McClure had two runs with an RBI; and Will Kibler scored twice.
