Local agencies receive cut in state HSDF funds

Due to a freeze on some of the funds in the state budget, the Bradford County commissioners on Thursday reduced the allocation of state Human Services Development Fund dollars to seven local human services agencies by 5.4 percent.

In January, Gov. Tom Corbett froze the release of part of the state's Human Services Development Fund dollars that are contained in the state's FY 2011-12 budget, Bradford County Human Services Director Bill Blevins explained.

Consequently, the county's allocation of state Human Services Development Fund dollars for the current fiscal year was reduced from $70,411 to $66,600, he said.

As a result, the commissioners on Thursday decreased the amount of HSDF dollars being provided to seven local agencies for the 2011-12 fiscal year by 5.4 percent.

The revised HSDF allocations are: Area Agency on Aging, $10,380.13; Big Brothers/Big Sisters, $13,242.25; Bradford/Wyoming Literacy Program, $16,386.88; The Children's House, $2,837.62; Memorial Hospital Hospice, $3,783.50; YMCA of Bradford County, $13,242.25; and Partners in Family & Community Development, $4,729.37.
