Towanda boys down Williamson; Wellsboro tops Sayre

TOWANDA - The Black Knights outscored Williamson 27-15 in the first half on their way to a 64-42 victory on Thursday.

Casey Huff led Towanda with 15 points and Mason Roof had 13 points, while Nolyn Chaffee finished with 10 points in the game.

Noah Huff finished with seven points for Towanda and Joel Miller had six points in the game, while David Rodenheizer finished with four points.

Brandon Dinneli had three points for Towanda and Jake Serrano-McEwen, Brad Sparbanie and Robbie Abrams each finished with two points.

Ryan Bidlack led Williamson with 17 points and Travor Adriance had seven points, Shea Daly had six points, Derek Vargeson and Devon Smith had five points each and Nick Cevette added two points.

Williamson won the JV game 54-28. Tristan James led Towanda with 10 in the game.

Towanda is at CV on Saturday.

Wellsboro 60, Sayre 45

The Green Hornets outscored Sayre 22-5 in the first quarter on their way to a victory on Thursday.

Jordan Jackson led Wellsboro with 23 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists and Matt Reese and Dylan Prough each finished with 12 points, while Joey Doganiero had 11 points in the win. Reese added six rebounds for Wellsboro.

Sam Mitchell chipped in with two points in the win.

Sayre was led by Nate Williams with 18 points and Alex Lyons had nine points, while Riley Card finished with seven points. Trey Hildebrandt had six points in the game and John Shaw finished with three points, while Tyler Williams chipped in with two points.

Hildebrandt had six rebounds and five steals in the game.

Sayre won the JV game 39-37.

Wellsboro is at Towanda on Monday.

Troy 58, CV 39

The Trojans got a career-high 21 points from freshman Brandon Mattocks and Zach Root was one point away from a triple double in the win.

Root had 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots, while adding nine points and three steals in the win.

Jed Wright had 14 points, seven assists and three steals and Ryan Reeves finished with eight points.

Evan Polly had four points, seven assists and eight rebounds in the game and Quentin Wandell finished with two points for the Trojans.

Cowanesque Valley was led by Landon Pierce with 10 points and Justin Post with nine points. Allen Wood had seven points in the game and Gavin Howe had six points, while Mitchell Dent finished with five points and Josh Nudd had two points.

CV won the JV game.

Troy is at Williamson on Monday.

North Penn 58, NEB 42

North Penn got 16 points from Jimmy Price, 14 from Dan Proughty and 12 from Colin Craig in the victory on Thursday.

Jason DeHaven and Ryan Martin each finished with six points for North Penn and Keynan Arendondo had three points, while Brad Brubaker finished with one point.

Northeast Bradford got a double-double from both Shawn Hakes and Todd Bonin.

Bonin had 15 points, 12 boards, four steals and two blocks and Hakes had 15 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and six blocked shots.

Davis Young had 11 assists, seven steals, four rebounds, two blocked shots and four points in the game and Jake Hottle had eight points, five boards and three steals.

North Penn won the JV game.

Northeast Bradford is at Mansfield on Monday.

GIRLS

Athens 47, Wellsboro 32

The Wildcats got 19 points from Christin Dunkling as they picked up the win on Thursday.

Monica Dougherty had nine points for Athens and Danielle Stopper finished with seven points, while Danielle Dougherty had six points.

Rachael Donnelly had four points for Athens in the game and Mackenzie Vargason finished with two points.

Dunkling had eight rebounds and Donnelly had four steals and three assists. Sopper had four assists and Laura Lockard had four steals.

Wellsboro was led by Mackenzie Marple with 10 points and Kim Acorn had seven points, while Raina Rogers finished with six points.

Hannah Zuchowski had four points for the Green Hornets and Andrea Dean added three points and Taylor Acorn chipped in with two points.
