Warriors run past Tigers

MANSFIELD - Canton outscored Mansfield 47-22 in the second half to pick up a win in NTL girls' cross-over basketball action Wednesday.

The Warriors led 15-9 after one but Mansfield cut it to 26-23 at the half.

Becca Machmer had a double-double of 22 points and 10 boards for Canton while Kaitlin Meyer added eight points with two steals.

Makenzy Route had 10 points and four boards off the bench.

Rachel Holmes had seven points with five boards, Jada Smith netted six points with nine rebounds, Morgan Palmer scored four with Sarah Bly and Chelsea Heatly adding three points a piece. Bly had four boards as well.

Jackie Hillson led Mansfield with 14 while Emily James and Molly Wood netted 10 points each. Maddie York scored six, Simone Lichty added four while Felicia Bolt notched one.

Mansfield won the JV game 21-11.

Lichty had 14 to lead the Tigers while Route netted five for Canton.

Canton will host Liberty Tuesday while Mansfield is at Northeast Bradford.

Northeast Bradford 55, North Penn 29

BLOSSBURG - Calla Martin had 14 points, nine steals and five assists to lead the Panthers to an NTL girls' basketball cross-over win Wednesday.

Northeast jumped out to a 14-7 first quarter lead then made it 30-17 at the half. They continued to roll in the second half, out scoring North Penn 25-12.

Kelsey Carlsen had 12 points and six boards for the Panthers while Haylie Phillips added 10 points and five rebounds. MaKaylah Holbert netted eight points, Maddy Johnson had six points with six boards, five steals and four assists.

Alyssa Coon had three points, six boards and two assists while Courtney Coleman added two points with six rebounds.

Kaitlyn Gavverick led North Penn with 10 points while Whitney Holdren had eight. Jen Vlagic netted four, Alex Mendez scored three with Cassie Frederick and Rebecca Toothaker scoring two points a piece.

North Penn won the JV game 49-42.

Mariah Berguson led the Panthers with 15 while Gavverick netted 13. Coleman led Northeast with 19.

Sayre 48, Wellsboro 29

Mollie Robinson had 17 points and five assists to lead the Redskins to an NTL girls' basketball cross-over win Wednesday.

Sayre jumped out to a 15-6 lead but Wellsboro held on in the second, holding the Redskins to a 25-16 halftime advantage.

However, Sayre held Wellsboro to two third quarter points to secure the win.

Kelly Villanti added 14 points, seven steals and four assists for the Redskins while Elyse Skerpon had nine points.

Kelsey Young added eight points with eight boards while Adrienne Malorzo had five boards and two steals.

Raina Rogers and Mackenzie Marple had 10 points each to lead the Hornets while Hannah Zuchowski added four. Kim Acorn and Cecilla Sossi had two points a piece. Andrea Dean rounded out the Hornets scoring with one.

Towanda 72, Williamson 40

Darien Lantz had 23 points and 10 assists while Ashley Fleming chipped in with 19 to lead the Black Knights to an NTL girls' cross-over basketball win Wednesday.

Towanda led 22-8 after the first quarter but the Warriors hung tough in the second. A 35-20 run in the second half sealed it for the Knights.

Lantz also had six steals and two blocks while Fleming added two boards and two steals. Alaina Wickwire netted 10 points, two blocks, three boards and five steals while Alysha Grimes had eight points and Kaitlin Hallabuk notched six.

Michelle Aronson had two points but added three assists, four boards and five steals while Danielle Zatkos and Paige Vanderpool had two points apiece.

Cheyenne Jones led Williamson with 17 points while Kim Daugherty added 14 with five boards. Lori Horton had five points with nine rebounds while Nikki Hurler added four. McKenna Greenwalt also had five boards for the Warriors.

Towanda won the JV game 55-15 behind 17 from Hallabuk.

Towanda will host CV Friday.

Cowanesque Valley 62, Troy 35

The Indians jumped out to a 26-8 first quarter lead and never looked back as they picked up the NTL cross-over win Wednesday.

Stephanie Painter and Carley Murdock had 22 points a piece to lead CV while Renee Farman added seven. Courtney Shaer netted five, Mikayla Andrews notched four while Blaire Williams scored two.

Vanessa Benson led Troy with 13 points, seven steals and three assists while Faith Ceely netted seven with three assists, four boards and two steals.

Brooke Mattocks scored five, Taylor Johnston added four with eight boards, Kelsey Bristol scored four while Kayla Stephani netted two.

CV won the JV game.

Troy will host Williamson on Tuesday while CV travels to Towanda Friday.

Boys

Sullivan County 68, Benton 39

Sharif Welton had 19 points, six boards, five assists and three steals to lead the Griffins to a Heartland Conference basketball win Saturday.

Sullivan jumped out to a 19-6 first quarter lead, then added to it by 20 points in the second quarter to secure the win.

Conner Wylie added 11 points, seven boards and three assists while Derek Wilkins had 10 points.

Kelby Mullen and Dalton Molyneux added eight points each with Molyneux also grabbing eight boards. Zach Meyer had five points with five steals, Calen Wylie scored three, Lucas Hatton netted two while Bob Polcrack and Adam Szklanka had one point a piece.

Hayden Carsner led Benton with 16.

Sullivan won the JV game 45-30 behind 18 points from John Trallo and Szklanka. Trallo had six threes.

The Griffins host South Williamsport Saturday.
